Please add the National Humanities Center's US History Toolbox Library to the list of resources. The toolboxes are collections of primary source materials organized chronologically and thematically. Texts are annotated and excerpted for ready classroom use. All the resources are free. http://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/pds/index.htm

www.peaceoneday.org/en/education -- FREE online resources dealing with history, civics, peace, and nonviolence. The resources are fun and interactive and work in conjunction with the DVD documentary The Day After Peace, which is also available FREE on the website

Another favorite is Google Earth. Many great sites have already been created - or you can create on of your own. One of my personal favorites was created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - Crisis in Darfur.

A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn - scanned in using OCR technology
This is a great book to see non-traditional viewpoints of history. Great for comparing & contrasting against a standard textbook or to stir up a great debate in class.
