I am truly devastated by the allegations that 60 Minutes has brought forth about Greg.  He has been one of my heroes.  I saw him speak at the NCSS, watched him receive an award, took a picture with him, read all of his books and shared them with my students...This does not bode well with me...One does not run out the back door and leave when he should be presenting...Makes me think Greg has something to hide...Very disturbing... …See More

Hi Marcy,

Thanks so much for your reply.  The links are great and your newsletter is so informative!  You really show how integrated the activities are in your classroom and how the children are building their own understanding of the concepts.  I am looking forward to focusing on Ghana in the coming weeks.  As it happens, we have man who is a weaver from Ghana coming to our school to teach us about kente cloth in a few weeks, which will fit in perfectly!

Thanks again for your suggestions,

Andrea

Hi Marcy,

I teach 1st grade in Washington, DC.  I believe I actually came across your website last year and asked for info about your Japan unit!  Anyway, I am about to begin a unit on African folktales.   In the past we have focused on the continent of Africa as a whole in social studies, and I think it would be more meaningful to focus in on one specific country.  I was wondering if you have any suggestions for resources.  We have a lot of artifacts available.  Also, I would love to know more about your continents unit.

Thanks so much,

Andrea

Glad you could join us, Marcy! Congratulations on your award!
My youngest stepdaughter went to Driscoll (and Baker) and had a great experience. Perhaps we could chat at some point? I'd be interested in learning more about your classroom.
