I am truly devastated by the allegations that 60 Minutes has brought forth about Greg. He has been one of my heroes. I saw him speak at the NCSS, watched him receive an award, took a picture with…Continue

I thought it would be helpful to share the self-made or You-Tube videos that will enable teachers to enhance their Social Studies or History curriculum. Please, when you share, add a "teacher" piece…Continue

Thanks so much for your reply. The links are great and your newsletter is so informative! You really show how integrated the activities are in your classroom and how the children are building their own understanding of the concepts. I am looking forward to focusing on Ghana in the coming weeks. As it happens, we have man who is a weaver from Ghana coming to our school to teach us about kente cloth in a few weeks, which will fit in perfectly!
Thanks again for your suggestions,
Andrea
Andrea Miller said… Hi Marcy,
I teach 1st grade in Washington, DC. I believe I actually came across your website last year and asked for info about your Japan unit! Anyway, I am about to begin a unit on African folktales. In the past we have focused on the continent of Africa as a whole in social studies, and I think it would be more meaningful to focus in on one specific country. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for resources. We have a lot of artifacts available. Also, I would love to know more about your continents unit.
Thanks so much,
Andrea
