A history teacher for 15 tears, I am now a full-time educational technology specialist and co-Director of EdTechTeacher. I am co-author of Best Ideas for Teaching with Technology: A Practical Guide for Teachers by Teachers and author of The Best of History Web Sites. I am also creator and co-webmaster of Best of History Web Sites, The Center for Teaching History with Technology, and Teaching English with Technology.

In the fall of 2008 I became Vice-Chair for Technology at NCSS and in early 2009 I created this online social network!

C-Span Classroom session at NCSS

Am now in C-Span session with Meredith Rapp, who I interviewed for our network's inaugural webinar. She's an engaging presenter and is showcasing C-Span Classroom's treasure-trove of free resources, notably its social studies video clips. She's explaining how to research a topic -- say, healthcare -- and then create one's own C-Span video clips (a handy feature) via their Library Archive. Mapping the World to Change the World

It's important for teachers to consider how best to use social networking for professional development.

Thanks so much for attending my session at FETC on using the SCAN process at www.yourtake.org AND for sharing this NING with me - it looks like a great place to share ideas and opportunities for teachers. I have been teaching middle school for 33 years and love to "get kids thinking!" I have worked with the nonprofit Tregoe Ed foundation to help get real thinking process into the classroom.
