I'd had a small amount of time to read over the NETP prior to going to Denver last week. I'm doubly-interested in this topic since I'm president of the Indiana ISTE affiliate.

To me, I think the goals are excellent. The question is trying to reach them. Locally, we are looking at a multi-million dollar shortfall due to state budget cuts and rising costs. I think we need to be innovative (and pretty creative) in order to provide professional development, quality curriculum materials, and necessary training for students (for example, successful search skills, or training on ethical use of material...just the tip of the iceberg with this important topic).

It will be interesting to see how all this falls together. How will NCSS work to help ensure these goals are met in the social studies?
